The Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University in Cracov is the oldest botanical garden in Poland. In spite of this the garden does not have a functional visual information system. The current solution does not work, it is not able to give a clear message to the visitor. It is difficult for visitors to read the information and to navigate around the garden. The intention of the new system is to answer these shortcomings, without visual dominance of the area. The basis of this project is the black board which is used when showing the different specimens. These boards are used to give a clear and orderly information piece about the plants. The information would include the name of the specimen, group and family, along with a description of the plant. The system also include wayfinding, warnings and general information boards. The materials presented outside of the instituation, such as posters and other promotional material, are related to the black boards and are a part of the brand of the garden.
