Visit Lincoln

When thinking about trains we normally associate them with being difficult and stressful, how can we find the best price? How can we get there quickly? Where do I go? Seems like a maze doesn't it?  The whole train process was my inspiration for this poster by actually making it into a maze. As Lincoln is a city well-known for its beautiful cathedral and old architecture up the famous 'Steep Hill', I wanted to capture its main focal point and combine it with a contemporary style which would appeal to today's generation. By adding a simple yet powerful quote 'CUT OUT THE CONFUSION DIRECT TRAINS FROM LONDON TO LINCOLN' made the maze simply disappear. No more struggling with trains. To create this I used Adobe Illustrator which was useful for creating this vector based poster. Each line is hand placed and sized to fit around the Cathedral in the middle. I left the bottom quite empty as I wanted to use the white space to my advantage to draw the eye to the text while having a straight line

Visit Lincoln Poster-2019
The brief: In recent years transport links to Lincoln have continued to improve, seeing an increased number of trains in and out of the city. However Lincoln currently only has one direct morning train to King’s Cross and one direct evening return service to Lincoln Central operated by LNER. However, from May 2019, there will be an additional five direct trains to London, and an extra six return trains to Lincoln per day.
Working with the University of Lincoln and the College of Arts, Lord Cormack is spearheading a strategy to promote the new, improved transport links in the city and is looking for an A2 poster to help spread the word.
You have been asked to create a poster which explores the positive messages around the new and improved train services (eg. more trains / visiting Lincoln is now easier / escape to Lincoln / Lincoln as a destination / opening up Lincoln / quicker by train / convenience etc.)

WINNER!
This brief was spearheaded by Lord Cormack as a strategy to promote the new, improved transport links in the city, he wanted us to create an A2 poster and there would be a winner for the best one. As a result of this I actually won with this poster and I am extremely proud of myself and excited for where this could take me.
